Pros

The people (Associates) - power of small teams - products making a difference - family atmosphere - nice modern and updated office and production facilities - still family owned and run - associate stock ownership - work life balance - so many products and divisions that you don’t need to leave the company to get a change in career - hard working blue collar production folks with advancement opportunities if you work hard and stay out of trouble - plant and production leadership team that actually care and want to make a difference - sponsorship - family CEO - hiring outside senior talent to help grow company - the people - most folks I work with I would invite over for Sunday dinner with my family !!!

Cons

Pay could be better but stock ownership, profit share checks, benefits and work life balance help to offset - understaffed in most places except for supply chain and operations (too many people there), doing way more with less people

It Breaks My Heart

Pros

Trust me, it used to be an amazing place to work and grow a career.

Cons

I worked here for more than 35 years. I gave it my all, as did many others I knew -- at times working 70 - 80 hours a week, because we believed in the company, what it stood for, and the culture. Now, having made lifelong friends that I stay in contact with after retirement, what is happening now is beyond comprehension. This is how you break the back of your best people, this is how you kill morale, and lose what the Gore family always claimed was their most important asset - the Associate. No longer. Long term Associates are expendable. Decisions are made from "up high" with no plan or consideration. Did things need to change - in my opinion - yes, but not like this with complete disregard for the people involved. There were many CEOs during my tenure, and Brett Snyder is by far the least qualified, with zero people skills and is stomping on the culture that was such a rallying point for this company. His family members are rolling over in their graves. How the board can allow this behavior, is completely beyond comprehension.

Pros

The people I work with are great. The current benefits are also appealing between company stock, vacations, and multiple forms of leave. The mission of “Together, Improving Life” is motivating and I’ve thus far never had a day I dreaded going to work. Also love the hybrid option for flexible work (although this is apparently changing for the worse?). Historically, great balance for work life.

Cons

I just don’t get it with this CEO. He does not seem to be qualified (he’s a family member so blatant nepotism at play - his LinkedIn progression makes it glaringly obvious) and his actions seem to validate it. He’s making so many changes at once that I wonder if anyone is happy with his presence outside of the Gore family. Blatant disregard for employees and anything beyond driving toward family-set growth goals. The satisfaction among those I work with is exponentially decreasing with uncertainty and changes afoot. Don’t believe what you’ve heard about the company. We are neither flat nor make our own commitments anymore.
