Pros

W.L. Gore is a company with a culture that fosters the power of small teams, belief in the individual, a long term point of view, innovation with integrity, direct one on one communication, naturally emerging leadership, leaders who must have followship, products that are fit for use, compensation based on contribution, commiotments not titles, profit sharing and stock ownership of the Enterprise by all Associates, and we are All in the same boat. The objective of Gore is to make money and have fun. The support that individuals get to grow and develop throughout their Gore career is the reason most people stay.

Cons

Associates have to be very responsible in terms of planning for their retirement because our whole retirement plan is based on an ASOP plan and the performance of the Enterprise stock. Individuals who need a high degree of personal recognition and stardom to satisfy their careers usually don't do well at Gore because of the strong support for small teams around business opportunities. The team wins and the team loses and one's contribution to that team effort is what follow our success. It also takes often times several years for a person to build up their credibility and network to succeed in the Gore culture.

Pros

Great benefits and pay helps and feels great, initially.

Cons

The workplace culture is highly toxic and not as supportive of talent as they let on. High performers are targeted by internal cliques who deliberately engineer situations for them to fail. Management entirely condones this behavior, while simultaneously expecting absolute perfection from employees under impossible conditions—forgetting that people are not AI. Furthermore, professional merit is ignored; higher levels of education, years of experience, and employee longevity mean absolutely nothing. Management relies heavily on deflection and stalling tactics to delay growth opportunities. It is an exhausting environment that penalizes hard work and actively blocks career advancement. Overall, the company falls short with their original principles and core foundations for its employees/Associates.
