Pros

Gore's greatest strength is the openness and friendliness of the people, and the relative lack of hierarchy. Almost everyone is willing to stop what he is doing and help you if you have a question about something, or need to be pointed in the right direction. This openness makes life as a new hire much easier, and it makes good business sense in the end--the faster someone can get you on the right track, the less time you waste, and the more productive you are. The emphasis on innovation also makes this an interesting place to work. Associates with the company have managed to leverage the properties of a single group of chemicals to develop guitar strings, dental floss, medical devices, and high-performance coaxial cables.

Cons

The company culture would be upsetting to people who prefer a more structured, rigid environment. This lack of structure can also be frustrating for new hires or interns who don't have the experience to know what needs to be done, and proceed in a direction to accomplish that. First-time engineers may feel as if they are being "thrown in over their heads."

Pros

Great benefits and pay helps and feels great, initially.

Cons

The workplace culture is highly toxic and not as supportive of talent as they let on. High performers are targeted by internal cliques who deliberately engineer situations for them to fail. Management entirely condones this behavior, while simultaneously expecting absolute perfection from employees under impossible conditions—forgetting that people are not AI. Furthermore, professional merit is ignored; higher levels of education, years of experience, and employee longevity mean absolutely nothing. Management relies heavily on deflection and stalling tactics to delay growth opportunities. It is an exhausting environment that penalizes hard work and actively blocks career advancement. Overall, the company falls short with their original principles and core foundations for its employees/Associates.
