Pros

Used to be a great place that allowed for small teams of uniquely qualified individuals to blaze the trails. This is no longer. Benefits are OK, PTO is decent, pension fund is about the only thing left that is really good. Upgrades and maintenance of equipment and facilities also suffered over the years. Bill Gore founded the company to get rid of all the crap he didn't like at DuPont. Now the grandson is hiring it on a regular basis.

Cons

No real communication from leaders. Just about everything is decided behind closed doors and becomes a mandate. Upper level management (no longer leadership as they are hired in now or they kiss butt to get a promotion) looks at associates below them as expendable. Performance as well as quality issues are never really dealt with. I have seen literally tons of material thrown in the dumpster because someone missed a detail. Fair compensation is BS. You get paid one check but are expected to perform multiple roles. Gore's IT department has over 500 employees with 55 leaders and they expect you to set up your own computers and then you get bad mouthed when you didn't do it perfectly to their standards.

Pros

Great benefits and pay helps and feels great, initially.

Cons

The workplace culture is highly toxic and not as supportive of talent as they let on. High performers are targeted by internal cliques who deliberately engineer situations for them to fail. Management entirely condones this behavior, while simultaneously expecting absolute perfection from employees under impossible conditions—forgetting that people are not AI. Furthermore, professional merit is ignored; higher levels of education, years of experience, and employee longevity mean absolutely nothing. Management relies heavily on deflection and stalling tactics to delay growth opportunities. It is an exhausting environment that penalizes hard work and actively blocks career advancement. Overall, the company falls short with their original principles and core foundations for its employees/Associates.
