Pros
Pay and benefits is better than any other driving job in the area. Helper positions have great pay and benefits and require only a strong back. Education may be helpful, but not needed.
Cons
Things don't get fixed unless there's a problem. You can see a problem on the horizon, point it out, but no actions are taken until it actually has any kind of negative effect. This includes maintenance of their fleet. Good people just want to get their job done and go home, but they are constantly delayed because of mechanical failures. There's also a culture with management where people feel like they have a target on their back. It's not just work of get fired. Many feel like they have to constantly make up for the poor decisions of management, by putting in longer days, more work, and running all day.
