Best place to start out with a minimum wage job - Customer Service Associate Walmart Employee Review

Pros

Fast pace. I worked at WalMart, desperate to get any kind of work. Within thirteen months I was promoted from "Door Greeter" to "Cashier" to "Customer Service Manager," although I was constantly reminded that the last promotion might only be temporary, based upon performance. I mention this because it's difficult to find a good-paying job, and I did find one that paid three times as much and moved on, but of all the crappy minimum-wage jobs I had to work, nothing came close to the opportunity I had at WalMart.

Cons

Of course, most of us at the bottom of the totem pole were treated like idiots. It's understandable, but it gets old after a while.

Pros

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

Cons

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
