Pros

Great stepping stone for career growth. Great opportunities for personal growth, decent pay, exposure to various sections of the P&L and balance sheet. Depends on the region/division you work in. Some are not enjoyable while others absolutely rock! Overall, being in the field with the frontline employees and garbage men is great.

Cons

Low pay for what the ask of you. Especially if given acquisition work. Not enough resources or staffing to handle special projects, ad-hoc requests or acquisitions work. Often working long hours and weekends.

Thank you for your positive comments on career growth in the accounting field at Waste Connections. We are a growth company that provides lots of opportunities for our employees but does come with additional duties until a new team is fully integrated into our local business. We encourage you to talk with your Division Controller about your concerns. We appreciate the opportunity to improve your experience as a valued member of our controller team.

Pros

Lots of overtime available, Saturdays rotational.

Cons

Lots of safety rules. Can't run over crosswalk lines. Can't run past a stop sign. Can't run redlights. Can't eat and drive. Can't drink and drive without a straw. Can't use bluetooth. Must stay 5-8 seconds behind vehicle in front of you at every speed. Must not speed over ten mile posted speed limit. Must have one hand on steering wheel at all times. Two preferred.
