Pros

Beautiful building and coffee bar on premises

Cons

You will not find a company in greater disarray than West. Herman West must be rolling over in his grave. I never thought I would work for another employer for the rest of my professional career after landing a job here. Five years later, the entire leadership team was replaced and now I can’t find another job fast enough. The former CEO, Dr. Morel, was one of the greatest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing and working for. He never hesitated to put employees first. He knew me by name, knew my Starbucks order (and always insisted on paying for it), and was nothing but a gentleman. The new CEO? The only time I’ve ever seen him is when he puts on the show of a quarterly employee forum and makes awful dad jokes. He couldn’t be more out of touch with the people that have made this company what it is. Show some poise, common sense, and intelligence. We, the employees, are smarter than you think and don’t need to be fed your BS while you attempt to pull one over on the investors to increase our stock price. We all know that’s all you care about. Please, for the love of all that is good in this world, get rid of this so-called “leadership” team. What can we do to bring back the former CEO???

West Pharmaceutical Services Response

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. We appreciate that the company has gone through a period of change in recent years, and while change is never easy, it’s critical to our long-term growth and continued success as a company. As an organization grows, it’s challenging for senior leadership to get to know all employees on a personal level. West currently has approximately 7,700 team members across our global network and we encourage open and honest feedback from our team members through a number of channels available to them. For example, we launched a company-wide employee engagement survey in 2017 and a number of new initiatives were implemented across our sites in direct response to the feedback received. Follow up pulse surveys have been issued to check in on our performance and ensure we continue to improve. It is disheartening to hear that you wish to leave West, however, one must be passionate about what they do each and every day, and if you are not, then you will be dissatisfied, and your work will suffer. In those cases, sometimes it is actually in the best interest for someone to leave a company. I would be very open to meeting with you to discuss your concerns and invite you to contact me directly. However, if you feel you would prefer to move on, then I respect your decision and wish you well in your job search. Annette F. Favorite Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer

Pros

• Interview process was personal, thoughtful, and conversational — I always felt like a human being, not an application. • Leadership and Talent Acquisition were transparent and respectful throughout. • The people here genuinely care about the work and one another. • Many employees have been with West for 15, 20, even 30+ years, which speaks volumes about culture and stability. • Work is meaningful — West designs and manufactures drug containment and delivery systems that help medications reach patients safely. • Onboarding has been organized and welcoming, with support at every step.

Cons

Systems and digital tools are in transition (which is normal for a growing organization).

Cons

Difficult to progress your title and compensation Company seems to be shrinking their AZ presence Site management is misguided or missing, certainly not focused on employee retention Compensation is low Consistently losing great people and employees that eventually get fed up from working too much without a matching compensation
