Pros
- Lots of intelligent folks to talk to. - Can be interesting work. - Nice office in Cranberry. Very poor (cheap) new office in Sweden
Cons
- Clueless management. Danny's blog is a company joke which just highlights how out of touch he is with whats happening e.g. frequently mentions R&D work which has almost no funding or people working on it. - Too many useless procedures and policies. There must be a whole department somewhere churning this stuff out e.g. car parking procedure. - Ratio of managers and reviews to people actually working on a project is about 3:1. - HR treat people like cogs. Unfortunately in Engineering they are not all the same. Experts leave and there is no succession planning other than to panic when people resign. - Managers without technical knowledge have no idea how good or poor your work is. Hence judge you on style over substance. - Ranking and salary system seems designed to demotivate everyone. 90% of people are ranked average and get ca 1.5% increase. Above average is ca 2% and below average is ca 1%. So basically why bother if you will all get the same?
