Pros

You get to meet some nice people, while helping them with their projects. Sometimes management provides snacks during busy periods (like Christmas and Easter), you also get £25 per person from the company for a Christmas dinner. You get to go to Hull for training before starting your job. You get to use a CAD system to design and then bring your designs ‘to life’ with 3D and VR.

Cons

Management gets no training, so nobody cares how they treat their staff, some just do as they please and take out their frustration with directors on designers. But as long as sales are coming in, nobody cares what happens to the employees. If you’re suddenly in a slump for a few weeks and not selling much, then you’re worth nothing and can get sacked on the spot. Support seems superficial (probably depends on the management, so it’s potluck). No matter how much overtime and your energy you put in, nobody cares. There’s also no work benefits apart from some money towards your eye care. You could be dedicating years to the company, go extra mile to look after the business, sell over a million pounds worth of product each year and the company won’t even blink an eye if they want to get rid of you. Staff turnaround is worse than in fast food shops but again, all depends on the management. Basically, your job satisfaction will depend on the management, as they say, the fish rots from its head.

Pros

I’ve been with Wren Kitchens for about a year now, and my experience has been nothing but positive. The company continues to grow and expand, which creates great opportunities to learn new things and develop professionally. The environment is very collaborative and supportive. There’s a great balance of autonomy in your role while still having the support of teammates and management when needed. My manager has been especially great at providing coaching, guidance, and encouragement that has helped me continue to grow in my role. The benefits are also very competitive, and I really appreciate that there are multiple options available so you can choose the plans that best suit your lifestyle and needs. The PTO offering is competitive as well, which makes it easier to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Overall, it’s been a rewarding experience working for a company that values development, teamwork, and continued growth.

Cons

None that I can think of!
