Some people feel it necessary to work more than 40 hours. A lot of upper management is scared to tell their boss' no, creating unrealistic expectations.

Cons
Because the company has a bottom line, promotional paths aren't really a thing beyond individual contributor to manager. I don't know what the next level up would be besides that.
