Pros

Interesting organization in very relevant industry.

Cons

Unfortunately the role of a regulated utility is to: Provide certainty of returns at minimized risk to shareholders; Provide a reliable source of energy (gas/electric) to customers; balance the above in a politically charged environment with priority given to 1. Investors; 2. regulators/politicians; 3. Senior Management compensation; 3. Large customers; 4. Small customers; 5. all other employees. That creates a culture of silo's, politics, promotion of "good guys" versus measured performance, lack of clarity on roles (ability to afford excess people due to regulated recovery of costs), lack of entrepreneurial organizational approach, protecting the core regulated business.

Pros

Standard methods, cloud infrastructure, and reliance on in house staff over contractors makes it very easy to implement safe, fast, consistent changes. You will be valued as a human and you will have a voice within this company. You can make a career here. Your coworkers and immediate leadership are all talented and intelligent individuals who actually know how to do the same work you are doing.

Cons

AI rollout and unevenly applied hybrid work made things difficult for employees with disabilities and those that lived far from office who had traditionally worked remote or for tasks that do not lend themselves well to AI overhead
