Pros
It is a maturing company which gives it a great mix of pros of a smaller company and the cons of a larger company. > Operated by small teams: There is always something to do! There is a lot of opportunity to be involved in different projects. > Top of their Market: XIFIN is doing really well in its industry, seems to be a very stable company on track for growth, even in these COVID times. > Room for Improvement: Many processes and implemented technology like the company is still maturing. I can tell that in the early days of the company the didn't foresee where it would be today... This has led to some design & implementation of tech, and issues. - If you enjoy continuous business process improvement, or just "fixing things" this is the job for you. > Great Co-Workers! People here are very friendly, relaxed, and always willing to help. Feels like an older crowed with a lot of "new blood" coming. >Managers: I really respect my immediate management, they are natural leaders with a wealth of knowlege. I feel as though they are always looking out for our teams best interest and can be trusted.
Cons
> Upper Management: Lacking fundamental leadership. As an employee seems that upper M.s decisions are contradictionary and nonsensical. One day the want to go left, then then the next, its full right. >Tribal Knowledge: Everything here is learned, and understood by tribal knowlege. There is very little to no documentation, SOPs, ect. This creates a lot of problems between teams, as updates happen to the system, and there are no announcements or documentation. If you want to learn anything about a system in particular, someone who knows about it has to teach and show you. This means if you are a new hire, get ready for a fun few months.... >Management Loves ... More Management: Every team seems like they are completely overwhelmed with work right now. I would say that if every team had an unlimited budget (Or just a larger budget) they would all hire 3 more employees to help out. Yet, everywhere I hear, Management believes the solution to the problem is adding in a new layer of management.... (Hint hint, the solution to leadership isn't more leaders) >401k Vesting: 5 Year "Vesting" - If you don't know what that means I would google it. Basically you don't get your full 401k untill 5 years at the company.... >COVID: Handling of COVID has mixed reviews from me. Obviously hindsight is 2020, and I don't mean to nitpick decisions... but there were some mistakes. - As a tech company, many of our teams were able to transition to fully remote with no reduction in productivity. Myself and my team thought we did a really good job WFH, and thought it would be a long term solution. 4 Weeks in we were told to come back into the office... and the best reason why (I got directly from the CEO) was for "security" reasons.... Yet we've always had some team members working remote full time. Its painfully obvious that Upper Management just isn't with the times and does not trust its employees to work remotely. To me I see this as upper management yet again making a decision to go left, then halfway through, changing to right. - Covid Testing: A great Pro, which turned Con for me, was last week we were given free COVID test and Antibody test! Such a great idea and I am very thankful that they were able to provide this. The Con its the timing and implementation. If upper management knew they were going to test everyone, why didn't they wait two weeks and test everyone before they came back to the office? Again, a bad decision that I believe results in a less safe work environment for it's employees for a minimal gain in productivity. I don't think this was the concousl
