YAI - Seeing beyond disability

Is this your company?

A good place to learn about healthcare, leadership, and the special needs population. Take the knowledge and move on. - DSP YAI - Seeing beyond disability Employee Review

Pros

In depth trainings, reasonable policies and procedures that provide a good structure when followed, career growth for those interested, good medical benefits, life insurance, Benny card, vacation time (4weeks) can be taken anytime after a year, 12 sick days a year, decent employee discounts( working advantage etc). When you have a good team, the work is easier.

Cons

The pay is barely livable, especially for NYC. Plenty of opportunities for OT but then you end up exhausted. Poor quality of staff, uneducated, unmotivated, and treat the work place like their home. The workload can be overwhelming especially when dealing with bad staff. Management is useless, they too are underpaid and don't support staff. Very unprofessional environment, alot of nonsense is tolerated and often encouraged. This is not a place to stay longer than 5 years, take the knowledge and move on. You will perform many tasks here, from custodian to nursing but will never be properly compensated.
