Pros
I am coming up on my anniversary at Zapproved and I've been thinking about my time with the company. I started in an entry level role and over the years I have been promoted again and again to become a senior level manager. Zapproved has encouraged me to grow professionally and personally over the years. One of the things I really admire about the company is the number of women managers leading in all departments. From the first day I have had amazing women to look up to and be mentored by. One of the reasons I chose Zapproved was because the company was founded by a woman. I was tired of working for organizations where the culture went against my values. Zapproved isn’t perfect, it’s a work in progress, but I think part of the success of the company is our CEO’s commitment to wanting to be better. To try, sometimes fail, but try again. At Zapproved there is a commitment to growing better. As a member of the queer community, I have never felt a need to hide who I am or show up in a way that wasn't authentically who I was. Zapproved has worked hard to be a leader in the community and offer equity and inclusion learning opportunities for their team. This is on-going development. Equity and inclusion work is never done and as the company grows I am certain they will continue to be committed to creating a better community both inside and out.
Cons
No company is perfect. As a remote first company, creating relationships is more challenging. As we continue to work on programs that encourage the team to make relationships I hope that this will change over time.
