Pros

Financially stable. Company is making lots of money, even if in spite of itself. There are some really great and smart people there.

Cons

- Benefits are very expensive - Most employees are unhappy working there - Leadership is reactive, no planning - Culture of Haves vs Have nots - Execs should have some privileges over the staff, but Zelis takes it to extreme for a small company. Insane # of dedicated parking spots in NJ, Special Rooms for Execs only, EA's - Especially for CEO - are nasty and aggressive.) - No development/Training Zelis is a Healthcare Services Company that wants to be a Tech or Tech Services Company. Only problem is that their technology is older than many of the people working there. They merged a few companies together back in 2016 and 3 years later have not integrated them. On their 4th CIO in 2.5 years including the interim Candidate. Leadership has very low technical aptitude and any IT leader has struggled to bridge that gap. So much time and effort is wasted because there are 5 ways to do just about anything. Zelis has become a playground for Execs who follow Private Equity Firms. There is no plan to build anything sustainable. I have never seen a more poorly run company. C level leadership has revolving door. In my time there I never saw a Plan, or road map. The place was running like 3 companies all trying to act like they never merged. If you like chaos this is the place to be.

Pros

I 've been with Zelis for more than 3 years, and it's been a great place to build a career. One of the biggest benefits is the flexibility. Working remotely has allowed me to maintain a healthy work-life balance, which is incredibly important because my family is my top priority. I've always felt trusted to manage my work while still being present for the moments that matter most outside of work. The company has created an environment where employees are empowered to do their jobs without unnecessary micromanagement. Leadership encourages collaboration, and I've had opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute in meaningful ways. The culture is supportive, and I've enjoyed working alongside talented colleagues who genuinely care about helping each other succeed.

Cons

Like any growing organization, there are times when processes and priorities change, which can take some adjustment. Clear communication during periods of change is always appreciated, but overall, these have been manageable and haven't taken away from my positive experience.

Pros

Good work/life balance, generous PTO

Cons

• Excessive management layers: There are too many layers of management, many of which seem focused on self-preservation rather than supporting the team. This creates unnecessary bureaucracy, leaving employees bogged down with low-value tasks and corporate checkboxes instead of meaningful work. • Outdated technology and resistance to innovation: The tech stack is significantly outdated, and there is a clear resistance to adopting modern solutions. For example, I was penalized for incorporating AI into development work, despite other teams being encouraged to use tools like ChatGPT for less impactful tasks. Opportunities to implement cost-saving, AI-driven solutions were dismissed without proper consideration. • Unsustainable expectations for advancement: Promotions appear to be reserved only for top performers who are willing to prioritize work above all else. The expectation to “eat, sleep, and breathe” the job creates an unhealthy work-life balance and limits growth opportunities for otherwise strong contributors.
