Pros

The hours are good. You get paid weekly. Office manager, managing attorney and some of the associate attorney's are nice and easy to work with. One particular litigation assistant tries to make the office environment a place you want to be. She is knowledgeable and helpful. Some litigation assistants are very friendly and easy to approach if you have a question.

Cons

Bonuses are sporadic and very small, under $20. A multi state company uses subpar equipment and software that makes doing the job take longer. Only one computer in the office has the software needed to create documents for an office with over 2000 active litigation cases. You are given more work than you can complete. You will get in trouble if you do not finish all of it. No one is allowed in the office without an attorney or office manager. You hear about getting overtime but the people who have to be there for you to work late do not stay late. You have to work sick or get in trouble. You get 5 points for calling in sick in the morning or leaving early sick. 10 points and you get written up. 30 points and you get fired. You do not get a bonus if you have 10 points. You get points if you are 1 minute late or leave 1 minute early. The company does not value their employees. Once you start there is no where to go. There are no senior positions. Employees who have worked 2 weeks and employees who have worked 8 years are in the same position and will never advance. The employees who shine are held back and never acknowledged by the company. The litigation assistant mentioned in the Pros section spends her own money on items trying to make the office a nicer place to work. There are a few employees who would make excellent senior staff. They aren't trusted to be alone in the office or to open/close. Great employees are bogged down with too much work and bad employees are kept around given very minimal work. The company does not encourage employees to stay long term. Employee turn over is high. Education does not matter and will not help you in this job. You get one yearly review but will never get a high scoring review. They dig to find anything you did wrong or exaggerate to create a low score. The office manager and managing attorney have little say in how the office is run.
