Pros

The people I worked with were genuinely great. The job is remote (though they have recently started requiring travel for all new employees once a quarter).

Cons

When I started here the company and culture were fantastic. I felt like I had won the job lottery. Then leadership changed and the ship has been sinking ever since. Where do I start? The lack of organization: my department went through a reorganization almost every single year I was there. We were constantly juggling way too much work and any complaint about this to management would be met with "you need to learn how to prioritize". They could also never figure out how to do performance reviews or feedback, so we ended up doing performance & peer reviews sometimes up to 4-6 times a year as a "test" of the system, it was incredibly draining. The lack of integrity & clarity: I saw my own and multiple coworkers ideas and suggestions be taken by management and presented as their own so they could take credit. I saw low performers be promoted over those who were the pillars of their department because they were "yes men". There were people I worked with who clearly were not doing their job correctly for years that were never noticed by management until it had to be pointed out, then still nothing was done. AI was constantly being pushed with zero effort to train by the company, only that we "needed to be using it" with no guidance on how. Funnily enough a week after a new AI system had been implemented, there was a large wave of layoffs. The connection there is clear. The lack of transparency: The company survey one year stated we wanted more transparency. In one of the most baffling moves I've ever seen in the professional world, the execs took that to mean they needed to take turns doing a 10 minute long presentation about their personal lives at the beginning of every company-wide meeting for an entire year. I wish I could say I was joking. Additionally the CEO would promise layoffs would be the last thing he would consider, then would randomly lay large groups of people off with zero warning (the most recent one being this last June). Leadership: Disorganized, will argue with each other in company meetings. The CEO started taking away many perks that made the company unique and a great place to work (such as cutting parent leave drastically and midway through the year, putting harder limits on the "unlimited" PTO, requiring travel, removing Summer Fridays literally a few weeks before they were set to start which caused horrible scheduling issues for many), stating that we needed to be more like other companies. It honestly felt like an attempt to get people to quit before laying them off, and I'm still not convinced that wasn't the case as just a month after this announcement was a large group layoff.

Pros

I really love working at ezCater and having the opportunity to collaborate with so many different departments. One of the things I value most is the people. There is a strong sense of teamwork, support, and shared purpose across the company. I also appreciate the fast-paced culture and the chance to be part of an evolving company that is continuously growing and improving. The remote and hybrid model offers a great work/life blend, and Together Weeks provide meaningful in-person time to connect and strengthen relationships. Despite the recent changes, I trust that management and leadership are guiding us in the right direction and continuing to provide the resources and information we need to succeed. Overall, ezCater is a place where I feel proud to contribute, grow, and collaborate. Pros

Remote work and the people. I have worked with some of the most talented, compassionate, and customer-focused coworkers of my career. They genuinely care about one another and about delivering an exceptional customer experience. The culture that once existed was something truly special.

Cons

The company has changed dramatically, and not for the better. There have been multiple rounds of layoffs, including a significant reduction in force recently and another round before Thanksgiving. Each time, the remaining employees have been expected to absorb more work with fewer resources. Burnout is widespread, morale is low, and many employees are actively looking for opportunities elsewhere. Leadership often feels disconnected from the day-to-day reality of the people doing the work. Decisions seem to prioritize short-term cost savings over employees, culture, and long-term success. Benefits have also moved in the wrong direction, including substantial reductions to PTO and sick leave, while expectations continue to increase. The saddest part is watching the incredible culture that made ezCater stand out slowly disappear. The company used to value work-life balance, employee well-being, and trust. Today, many employees feel overworked, undervalued, and uncertain about the future. I joined ezCater believing it was one of those rare companies that truly lived its values. Looking back, that promise feels like it has faded. The people are still amazing—they’re the reason many of us stay—but leadership has made it increasingly difficult to see a long-term future here.
