Pros

As has been said in previous reviews, the people are hands-down the best thing about this company. There are some really creative, funny, hard-working folks at mindWireless. They kept me afloat at this company with their humor and friendship, and I'm glad to say that I still call some of them friends, even after I have moved on. The friendships that I had established made moving on a harder decision than I would have liked for it to be. The work is not difficult, and will certainly keep you busy. If you're focused, the days can fly by. And the insurance seemed pretty okay. Also, it's the kind of work that you can leave at the office, which is super. Kevin Whitehurst is listed as the CEO, and I clicked 'approve' because he seems like a really decent guy. The CEOs don't have a lot of visibility, but Kevin was never anything but cheerful and friendly.

Cons

There is a colossal upstairs / downstairs disconnect between the CEOs and the operations team, and the intermediary operations manager spends so much time spinning facts and telling everyone what they want to hear that you will never get a straight answer from him about anything. When do I get a performance review? "Be patient." What about that raise? "It's coming, be patient." Don't waste your time... it's not coming. You won't get a raise, but you will get a run-around. A previous review reads "I think some of the negative reviews about the company have been written by employees that have been terminated for poor performance or poor attendance." With the company being as small as it is, I can say with confidence that none of these were written by people who were fired. In fact, the turnover rate was so absurdly high that I started making a list of names as people left. About 85% of the people who left did so of their own volition. During my tenure there, we averaged a loss of one person every 2.5 weeks. Unreal, no? Especially for a company this size (about 40 people)... You can continue reading, or leave off here and let the through-the-roof turnover rate speak for itself. There is no accountability. Want to slack off? Sure, go for it. Want to come in consistently late and, as a previous review stated, watch Netflix and YouTube? Go for it. You may be ushered to the door eventually (in about 5 months or so), but so long as you are still working at about 30% and are furtive in all your non-work activity, you'll probably be okay. This kind of behavior never affected me directly, but I saw it running rampant among other employees and it had a hugely detrimental effect on company morale. There is a good chance that you will end up picking up these people's slack and you will definitely not be compensated for it. Base-level employees end up doing managerial work and are simply not paid for their effort. They quickly realize this, become unhappy, and quit. I've seen this cycle repeat itself endless times. I won't go on and on and repeat the negative that has been said in previous reviews, for risk of sounding like an embittered, disgruntled former employee. But I would encourage 1) reading the more negatively-biased reviews to see what intelligent former employees have to say about the company, both the good and the bad, and 2) reading the 5-star, glowing reviews and seeing them for what they are: staged attempts at balancing out the negative that has already been said in other reviews. They are brief, say nothing of import, and are obviously contrived by the management. When I first joined the company, I was told by one of the founders that mindWireless was a family, big enough to have industry clout, and small enough that everyone got to know each other pretty well. I got in, and the then-office manager bungled my insurance paperwork. When I reached out to her, I was told to by the same founder to "leave her alone and figure it out yourself." This same person was entirely absent during my last days at the company. I don't expect to be treated like family at work; it is, after all, work. What I do expect is to be treated fairly and with honesty by my employer. At mindWireless you will be treated with neither fairness (in terms of pay or promotions) nor honesty (see previous review about "misrepresentation at its finest"). Look elsewhere for work - you'll be happier for it.
