I'm in awe of this team -- full of deep thinkers, kind and intentional colleagues, creative collaborators, efficient and constructive supporters/mentors. The product speaks for itself and the team behind it is so inspired to constantly iterate and improve it. Never worked at a tech company that is so deeply ingrained in what we're selling and encouraging all members of the organization to become proficient in it as well.

With any fast-growing startup, things are constantly changing but this isn't necessarily a con, just par for the course.

You get to work on a cool bit of technology. There is an engaged community. The engineers are a solid bunch.

The product is consistently held back by inexperienced and toxic leadership at the VP level. Employee turnover in the product organization is between 70-90%, effectively a meat grinder. Product leadership has a reputation for erratic behavior - finding team members willing to report to or work with him is difficult. Those who do find themselves working with him record their conversations to try and protect themselves from him. The team's most productive periods are when he is on vacation (which is often even for German standards) and engineers can work around him. Due to this failure in leadership, the product direction is muddled and lacks a clear ICP. This causes an undue burden on the teams selling and supporting the product, which has stagnated in the past two years beyond a few AI features. Other Germany-based startups look at n8n and are surprised that growth and revenue are not higher given their resources. The answer is simply one individual causing problems with every interaction.
