Pros
Founder is logical (a programmer), kind and trusting. This results in a great environment where you have autonomy, mutual respect and flexibility. Really awesome product with a passionate community. Fair-code license means we're not just focused on revenue but authentically nurturing a community. Leadership isn't constantly chasing VC funding and adding pressure for unrealistic growth. Our focus is to build good product and I actually feel it in the tasks/ projects I'm working on. Nice (small) team - all passionate individuals who are keen to start something from the ground up and collaborate. I literally get excited to come in to work and nerd out with my team. I feel comfortable to say things like "my idea was a bad call," which means I'm even more comfortable to say things like "let's try this".
Cons
Usual early stage startup things, like not very defined processes. I personally like this as you get a voice in defining those processes, but could be a bit stressful if you're used to larger corporate organizations. No super fancy coffee machines or machined aluminium laptop stands. Sensible frugality is a value here. Again, personally I like this as it makes me more confident that we're managing our funding well and won't be forced to constantly raise.
