Pros
Having been a vAuto long-hauler, I can attest to the fact that every day at work for me is an exciting one. We write software that MATTERS. Period. Folks can complain about old tech stacks, old code base, but you don't get to 0 to over 350 million in revenue and a vast loyal customer base by having an unstable, unimpactful code. If you think re-writing the steering wheel in .Net Core, Python, Scala and the latest AWS shiny toy is impactful code than it's not. That is the misconception amongst some jaded engineers. It's not the tech-stack that is exciting it's the problem you are solving. It makes me chuckle to read reviews about software engineers complaining about innovation @ vAuto. Innovation is not a class you take at a university. No one is stopping you from innovating at a personal level @vAuto. You just do it and then you sell it. There is enough management support at vAuto and the Cox Automotive ecosystem that would make your innovation a revenue generating machine. It has to make money. vAuto is not into vaporware (unlike Google) and that is why there is a process behind everything. ~My $0.02
Cons
Can we get back to in-person work. COVID sucks.
