Pros

free online program CEUS, good vacation

Cons

Cons: poor benefits, long hours, poor local management communication I worked hard and put in many long days thinking that I was valuable to this faith based company. I worked for them so many years, long hours, helped by going everywhere out of my territory and to many different branches when they asked for help, at times traveling close to 90 miles one way. My patients calling the office by telephone giving me great reviews and great comments with my name on the Patient Survey Star Ratings. Communication from my local management was poor. During the COVID-19 Pandemic Encompass Home Health cut all therapist to 32 hrs and increased productivity point requirements. In June 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic Encompass Home Health eliminated many OT positions to make way for COTAs. A month later on July 30th, the Encompass Health Career website had pages of Full time COTA job openings for home health. I have waited to write this review so I could be as subjective as possible about the truth because I was so hurt. It was a hard realization and a rude awakening of the changes to the company that I used to love and that had so easily disposed of me.

Pros

Great medical and dental insurance.

Cons

Very heavy assignments, high patient acuity, 8:1 ratios for nurses, have to do both jobs of tech and nurse. The pace is very heavy with little stop. Techs do not understand difference between role and scope of their job vs nurse's job. If techs see you charting or trying to critically think about a patient situation, they assume you are "just sitting around" and will tell you to go answer lights or they disappear, so you are left doing both their job and your own. Some techs are very understanding and good at their jobs. Many patients not appropriate for the intense rehab environment. All in all, difficult hard and heavy job, but with great benefits.
