Poor new management

Pros

Pay is better than acute care. Or was, before the change in hospital leadership.

Cons

All new leadership at the director level and in administration. New leadership is incompetent.

All about the money

Pros

The people I work WITH are great

Cons

CEO is only worried about numbers, puts staff and patients at risk nurse to patient ratios, ALWAYS understaffed. Does not keep up with current pay in the area, does not always hire reliable staff. DON micromanages, and not well. Inappropriate patients, and whenever staff are injured the answer is always, well what were YOU doing wrong.

Healthsouth merger was a game-changer

Pros

I've made wonderful friendships over the years with some amazing co-workers.

Cons

Since the HealthSouth merger, Encompass has become more numbers focused rather than patient-focused. Everything is now about the bottom line, including maintaining census at all costs. Encompass Home Health was known for being upstanding and above boards in this community. Due to the changing culture over the last few years, Encompass now will admit anyone to Home Health Services regardless of whether they are appropriate or not. Employees used to be recognized for going above and beyond with their patient care. Now employees are taught to primarily focus on productivity and numbers. It's a sad change for what was once a great company. It is no surprise that HealthSouth chose to use the Encompass name after the merger due to their abysmal reputation within the Healthcare Community. Unfortunately, they are dragging Encompass down to their level. Encompass is no longer one of the best companies to work for with regards to pay and benefits. The 30 days of vacation policy is slowly being chipped away with employees now being forced to use their vacation time that they have accrued to make up for lack of productivity even if that is due to low census or other issues within the branch.
