Pros

excellent and cost effective health benefits. Decent overtime before recession hit oregon. good relationships with banquet staff at hotel (if you create it and work with them).

Cons

How you do at your job will be broken or made by the DET at your property. If your director is a nice guy it can be great, if your director is not You may be stuck with him before you transfer to another PSAV location.

Pros

You get a paycheck and plenty of Overtime.

Cons

6 day weeks and Overtime are mandatory and you only get a 3 day notice for each weeks schedule. You must work in situations that are unorganized, under-staffed with exhausting workloads which result in long shifts sometimes with little time to eat, and 60 hour weeks that are mind numbing. A company culture that encourages long hours for little pay and expects you to be on call for schedule changes and call time changes daily. Plus most shifts require that you eat lunch on property and you must eat Disgusting cafeteria 2 day old slop with no way to store your own food for lunch. As a New Hire you will be "Hourly PT" at 11 - 14 / hour, but at least get Time-and-a-half for overtime. But then they will pressure you to go "Full Time Salary" with promise of advancement. But what you get is the same pay minus your Overtime Pay! Salary workers work longer hours and get only 50% of normal wage for overtime hours! So you end up working for 9 - 10 bucks an hour!! Plus the understaffed events leave too much room for error in safety and health of the workers. Promotion is luck of the draw. If you are at a location that loses workers above you frequently, and you do not complain about hours, you get a promotion by default.

Pros

I enjoy working for PSAV because I get to be my own boss, at my particular hotel location. I was given the opportunity to advance my career with this company. I am always encouraged to advance my career with the company.

Cons

Working in events and hospitality in general, you tend to put in a lot of hours, most of the year. It is definitely wearing on the body, and I believe the compensation should be higher. Although, there are a lot of perks, and it is an exciting work environment.
