      HQ in San Diego Counts Qualcomm amoung clients About average pay

      As others have reviewed, the company is basically a pure staffing org. Most placements are 6 mos to 1 year, but as an employee you are at risk if your client company ends the contracts. Encore has some sort of "bench policy", you should ask about it. Biggest risk is that when you client company ends the contract, you will be let go. The company doesn't really have a great job funnel. Always scrambing.. After I started, I didn't feel like I was very well apprised of the attribution rate for each employee at the end of each assignment. I think the management painted a picture that was much rosier than reality.

      Terrific for senior IC designers

      Pros

      Terrific professional engagements augmenting several IC design and verification projects at several large companies IC design companies. I would never have had this at any of my other employers. Met many thoroughly professional dedicated people. Satisfying work and considerable personal professional growth challenge. For a time there were several internal tech presentations that expanded my knowledge of the rest of the IC design process I barely knew. There was company-wide recognition for a a few folks who produced skillfully written presentations.

      Cons

      Developers are isolated to their projects so other than the handful of tech presentations there was only a little opportunity and almost no push to learn from the other developers and be able to grow their skills into mine. Pretty much have to be senior level already in order to be picked up for most roles. But maybe it's unrealistic to expect such a company to help sw people transition to sw-hw, hw, DFT, OVM, UVM, formal verification...

      Placed onsite and never heard from again

      Contract placement at big companies in verification and test roles

      Cons

      You get assigned to a company and work onsite but never hear from Encore until your contract placement ends. Then maybe they will find you another role.
