While this could be just another highly successful insurance company and each employee is just another cog, Encova creates an environment where employees are not just rewarded but also recognized for their hard work and successes. The people here feel a strong sense of pride in the company's products & services. Management is approachable and encouraging. Tools and resources are laid out for employees to perform their jobs to the best of their ability as well as to further their own professional development. Goals and objectives are clearly laid out with ample time given to work towards achievement. It is this kind of employee-friendly culture that drives this company's success. They offer a good variety of benefit options for employees. A balance of work and personal life is also encouraged. This is just an overall great place to work.

Thank you for your review. We are glad you love the environment at Encova and the efforts we make to recognize our associates’ outstanding work. Our associates are the heart of what we do and the drive behind our success. Associates receive nine total holidays each year. Seven of these holidays are designated and two are floating personal holidays to be used at the associate’s preference with the manager’s approval. Additionally, we close the offices at noon on the business days prior to the Christmas Day and New Year’s Day holidays to give associates two half days paid.

Pros

The local management makes every effort to support employees and keep workloads manageable. Work/life balance is a catch phrase I don't love, but in this case it fits. We have regular group outings and way too much food(in a good way).

Cons

If you want to work from home full time this is not the place for you.

Encova strives to offer associates flexible work schedules whenever possible to help balance work and personal life. In some cases, it is important for associates to be at work in the office in order to best serve the needs of our customers. Managers determine whether flexible work options make sense for their areas, including individual associate arrangements. We continue to evaluate these opportunities, and associates are encouraged to work directly with their managers to discuss consideration for flexible work arrangements.

Pros

Encova was formerly BrickStreet Insurance and Motorists. As a mutual company they are able to take a longer term strategy, and the company treats their employees extremely well. Some examples are the full 7% match on the 401(k), a quarterly bonus for all employees that can add up to as much as 12% annually, free healthy snacks daily (in Naperville), and a great work environment that generates excellent results but also respects work/life balance.

Cons

The affiliation between the former BrickStreet and Motorists companies is still work in progress and there are separate underwriters for Workers' Compensation and Commercial Lines.
