Pros

I had a great experience during my time at England Logistics. During my few years at the company, they were extremely supportive of me in my early career growth. Every year I was there, I was able to witness the company making positive changes. Some of the other reviews indicate that they think the uppers are separated from the floor, but my opinion is that the uppers are trying to do their best in making England Logistics a fun place to work. The bottom line is that pounding out phone calls and booking freight isn't always the most glamorous work, and it's not always fun, but EL does their best to make it better (via summer games, Boondocks days, other spiffs and stuff). My experience was that they recognize hard work and are willing to reward those who dig in and make things happen.

Cons

-Compensation was a bit spotty. At the end of my time, I felt like I doing twice as much work as I had when I started, but making less money. -The current celebrate/reward system in place seems to favor employees at the beginning of their careers, when they are smashing their goals, but doesn't really seem to reward tenured folks who've been loyal to the company for a matter of years.

Pros

Frequent employee activities, Umm. Guess that's it.

Cons

Frequent employee activities - they think that since they do activities they don't need any other positive leadership behaviors. For example employee development or harassment training. I have seen my immediate supervisor do things that should have been immediate termination, however, the folks that complain about the environment are labeled trouble makers and will be let go. This is a good ol boys company so don't expect you can move up.

England Logistics Response

I'm pleased to say that we have a real HR department in our Talent Development group. As the head of that group I bring over 20 years of human resources and leadership experience to the company. The other members of the team also bring years of rich experience to their respective areas of focus. While I understand your recommendation regarding having the freedom to do what is needed to help the company grow and improve, the reality is that we all report to someone in every organization. I happen to report to the president of the company and serve as a member of the executive team. This is an enviable position for human resources and I'm grateful for the company vision to organize it this way. There continues to be opportunities for improvement and work to do, I am thankful for the strides we are making through the candid feedback we receive from those who have left and especially those who are committed to giving us candid feedback and then helping us make the improvements.

Pros

Great Management. Good Perks/Events. Fast-paced corporate environment. Great culture/co-workers. Dodge-ball tournaments, barbecues, and Jazz/RSL tickets are always a welcome surprise.

Cons

High-pressure environment and result-oriented culture. This really isn't the place for lazy individuals...
