Pros

Super Inexpensive medical, dental, vision. Six Paid holidays for 12 hour employees and a good amount vacation that you can roll over year to year, plus separate sick time. Because it's not so big, the main OR is a pretty close knit group. This is especially true for cardiac surgery, which I love. Hospital administration does a good job of taking care of employees required to be at work during snow storms, offering meal vouchers and such in the cafe.

Cons

Cardiac techs and nurses float to general surgery, but do NOT get paid extra. Base pay is one of, if not THE lowest in the area.

Pros

Small community hospital with actual lunch hours in pay.

Cons

Alot. Population of staff and patients is very old. Be prepared to be bored. Management is created through uneducated workers who have been in their areas of employment for over thirty years. Very clique like. No room for newcomers in management positions. Monopolies to try to hire external employees only to discharge them giving no good reason to do so, no room for your opinion, no room for you to seek any advice, if you get an office your lucky it won't be an old storage closet. Only if grandma and grandpa are providing funds or have been employed here for thirty years can you survive here.

Pros

Co-workers pull together when coverage is needed.

Cons

Management and execs only care about themselves and their incentive pay. Break unions, keep employees in the dark and treat like we are 2nd class. Layoffs and hiring freeze at whim (but they get promoted and raises) and expect 1 person to do the job of 2 or 3 (or 4!). Only recognize "hard work" when someone with title does the job.
