Pros

Enova brings in speakers, hosts hack nights, sends employees to conferences to help their developers get better at their craft. The office environment is very relaxed (casual attire) and observes a very flexible work hour schedule, as long as you get your work done. Company events, happy hours, center of Chicago, and many other things make Enova a great company to work for.

Cons

The company started when ruby and rails where infants compared to what they are today, and the code base has struggled since then to stay up to date. With such a large application supporting an international business, the coding can be frustrating and challenging. But who doesn't love a challenge?

Pros

- Rewards hard work + creativity - Best answer wins: it doesn't matter who thinks of a solution so long as it is the best one - Flexible work hours - Casual Dress - No set career path: promotions given based on work, not tenure - High visibility work environment: C-level executives open to advice / solutions from anyone

Cons

- Goal setting / review process has opportunities for improvement - Industry is sometimes (unjustifiably) viewed negatively - some people are uncomfortable with that
