Pros

Real smart people around that you can learn a lot from. People in my group always want to make the entire process better. In the process of building a robust grid that is easy to operate. I've had absolutely NO complaints about my group. Good benefits. Company discounts on cars and hotels are really good. Alternate Friday off schedule. Never dreaded coming into work.

Cons

A lot of groups within Entergy have people that have been doing a task a particular way (old fashioned/traditional) for quite some time now. They are not willing to experiment and try to find a better way to do it. Some people do not take responsibility and own up to their work. It's always a blame game. Little to no renewable energy exposure due to low coal, gas and nuclear prices in all of Entergy's territory.

Good place to work

Pros

Its more than a corporation. It seems more like a family environment, everyone looks out for one another. Variety of schedules available, common is the 9/80 with every other Friday off. Good benefits. A company you can retire from.

Cons

Can be political, issues with middle management, stay on everyones good side. Some positions have room for advancement, some do not, however the company is big on hiring from within so opportunities do come available if you are patient.

Pros

Good work/home life balance, good salary and benefits. Great opportunities for communicators to use expertise, learn and grow.

Cons

The quality of your experience working for this company depends on the department you're in and the management in place. What started as a great place to work in the early 2000s turned into a beaurocratic nightmare as the company hit financial and industry challenges around 2011. Good managers became fearful and morale plummeted. As with most jobs, your happiness is equal to the quality of your managers. If you can handle the roller coaster effect of working for a corporation for many years, you'll do alright.
