Pros

The pay is good and there are training opportunities too. Extra straight-time pay during refueling outages is a nice pay boost.

Cons

The company is not very healthy, and the nuclear business outlook is poor. Required one week long on-call rotation once a month, outages are a pain, and if issues arise at the plant then you may get a call in the middle of the night or have to go into work at inconvenient times. The rules and expectations are can be dumb (childish). If you want to have a long-term career in an industry that isn't dying, and skills that are useful in other industries look else where.

Pros

The working hours are steady without too much overtime required. The pay and incentive compensation are competitive, albeit the lower side of competitive. The people in my department are great, but I don't have much of an opinion about the upper management.

Cons

Entergy can't seem to get staffing right. The company goes through down-sizings every few years and immediately tries to undo those decisions during the years in between. There is a bit of uncertainty about the fate of the business.
