Overall good experience as employee; disappointed to have to leave.

Pros

Salary is quite good for the area, the people that I worked with at my plant were amazing: the best colleagues I've ever had, most management was approachable, I had very supportive immediate supervisors. Most people are very passionate and dedicated to doing a good job.

Cons

My experience was not typical and many other Entergy plants do not have the same work environment that mind did. The overall business plan is so "big picture" the top-level management has lost sight of the employees; I understand that this is a business and they need to make money, but to do it at the expense of employees is just not good business.

Pros

Benefits packages are decent as expected from a large company BUT incentives are diminishing as company tries to cut costs.

Cons

If in Union then work-life is great. If in management/non-union, life work has potential to be very work-sided. Month long refueling outages every year lead to a terrible quality of life for a month as you work 12 hr shifts, 6 days a week for a month, and every year you stand liable to be placed on the night shift for the duration of the refueling outage. You are on-call every 4 weeks for one week to support emergency planning, no compensation is giving for this duty as it is deemed an employment "requirement". This employment requirement makes it difficult to plan vacations because you are expected to be within a 1 hr response time during your on-call week. Aging work force that is used to doing things status-quo and does not embrace change for the better.
