Pros

1. You can learn a lot while working at Enviva due to the rate of growth the company is experiencing. 2. Supervisors make/break your experience. I was blessed to have freedom to choose my career path, and operate in a way that worked for me (as long as my work was done) 3. The growth opportunities exist if your supervisor (or the powers that be like you)

Cons

1. As stated in other reviews, Enviva could do a lot better at showing employees they value them. Each of the pros listed above rely heavily on the fact that you are willing to work longer hours (including nights, weekends, or holidays) to get the job done. Some of this will be alleviated by proper staffing. Other parts of this won't be. Enviva will continue to grow faster than they can keep up due to employee burnout. There's a very high turnover rate within all departments of the company and it's not due to extended hours alone 1b. Enviva has no loyalty to its employees and do not always treat them like people. You get the feeling that you are a butt in a seat and that your paycheck is enough to keep you sitting and productive. 2. There are lots of office politics and people undermining and even disrespecting their colleagues. Not in a closed door conversation, but out in the open for people, in and outside of the department, to hear. Management does nothing about this 3. Some of the executives are a bit elitist and may/may not speak to you in the hallways or in the elevator (awkward much?)

Great on paper, not in person!

Pros

Enviva is a great place to work on paper: - Great health benefits - Competitive salary - Transportation (metro/parking) benefits - Abundance of snacks about the office (fruits, granola bars, breakfast, lunches, etc. etc.) - Very clean and up to date offices - Generous holiday bonus

Cons

Enviva is very much a start up. It's growing at a much faster rate than the employees can keep up. - Employees across the company are overworked. - There is little to no genuine recognition of work. - There is absolutely no work-life balance. Do not be fooled. This does not exist at Enviva as much as management would like to say otherwise. - You will be tied to your laptop and phone. - Weekend work is required as well as work over the holidays and your vacation. - Most folks are friendly but so stressed that often times you won't get to know who you're working with. - Management/senior leadership work so much they either don't have the time to manage or can't actually manage. - It's every man for themselves. "Team" or "department" is just a word to group people together but it's quite rare when folks have each other's backs, which is extremely unfortunate because most people are very nice and good at their jobs. - There is a clear division of power (in fact, the executive suite is closed off by a glass door), making a lot of employees tip toe around executives. - Extremely high turn over rate.
