Pros

Flight benefits for you, your parents, travel companion who can be anyone you choose and sixteen passes for friends a year with some taxes of course , flexible schedule depending on seniority. Sometimes you can take it easy if the job is done.

Cons

To start I will talk about the salary. The salary it is based on a union contract at about 16 per hour which for Chicago can be way to little. Rents there are too expensive, too many tolls, and there is no relocation package available. Then there is something else and it is the how some managers and supervises like to put pressure on the mechanics. I have heard supervisors rushing the mechanics by cursing, yelling and treating them like garbage and that very often which can give place for mistakes and fights to happen. The is also a union contract that protects old employees form being fire and the guys with the least seniority are very vulnerable.

A Toxic Environment

Pros

Flight Benefits and friendships made with a select few people

Cons

Management lies to your face, is condescending and treats employees like children, yet employees are entrusted with aircraft and potentially dangerous equipment on the ramp with almost no supervision. They preach safety, safety, safety, but it is a giant lie. All they care about is getting flights out on time, no matter the cost or repercussions to their employees. The same is true regarding absenteeism and tardiness. If you are black, you may show up whenever it suits you. Anyone else is severely disciplined. The environment is toxic and beyond political due to factions, cliques, and racial segregation. The Team Leaders are inept, immature, un-professional, and cover for their friends instead of enforcing company policies. Blacks are given preferential treatment as most of them work the ticket counter indoors, because they complain when they are assigned to work the ramp outdoors loading baggage. If you are friends with the Team Leads, you are set. If you are not, it is a miserable existence as there is no reward for working harder than the others. There are some decent, hard-working people, but they go completely un-noticed, even though they hold the operation together. Praise and positive reinforcement for a job well-done do not exist in the vocabulary of Envoy management. There is far too much drama and BS for $9.20 an hour. Stay away from this place. It is without a doubt the most miserable place I have ever worked at.
