Public facade mask the internal despair...

Pros

HQ SoCal location. Paid relocation (@ least 4 me...). Well-managed internal customer support team. HQ close to major airports. Employee product purchasing program for demo units, e.g. video projectors to watch the 'big game'...

Cons

Upper management: outdated, archaic and without vision. Real Machiavellians; they have Machiavelli's book, The Prince, on their bedside table and turn to it often for advice on how to practice effective "divide and conquer" strategies. As a result, mid-managers become preoccupied with guarding their backs instead of focusing on growing the business.. HR: they forgot the company's most valuable resources -- its employees. They act like a compliance unit and enforcer of a poorly developed performance review process. Others: Ineffective internal IS systems and support. High doses of internal politics. The shadowing Japanese 'observers'. The hypocrite corporate social responsibility communications (paper and printers are everywhere like back in the 80s/90s).

Pros

Friendly people, new building is modern and flexible work hours.

Cons

Recently, most of the benefits that made Epson a better company then others have but removed, reduced or cut. Retirement benefits was removed, cuts on vacation hours, removed bonus, and required to use your own vacation hours for holiday closure. Annual yearly raises does not even cover inflation. It doesn't matter if you have worked hard and exceeded expectation, the reward is extremely small - not worth it.

It's always a difficult decision when an organization changes long-standing benefits. At Epson, changes made to vacation polices, benefits and annual increases were not taken lightly. However, after many years of making few changes to our benefit offerings and assessing what other organizations of our size are offering employees, we made the decision to make adjustments.

They just went through a second round of layoffs this fiscal year, with people who have been here for 10+/20+ let go.
