Great company, some weak teams.

Pros

Excellent company with great benefits and work ethic from most employees. WFH and flex time allow for good time management. If you land with a good team, working with Equinix will be worth your while. Do EXTENSIVE research prior to accepting an offer. Read between the lines of posted job descriptions and reach out to current employees to get a better insight as to the role and the team.

Cons

Be wary of certain teams/managers. There seems to be certain teams that are quite disorganized and chasing their tails constantly. Frequent moving targets (sometimes hourly!). When everything is urgent, nothing really is. IMO, Equinix was not ready for a remote work model, it is quite difficult to know which contacts to make, yet are expected to 'already know who to go to' for information. Other than my immediate team, I had very little contact with anyone else in the organization. To this day, I still don't know who my HR contact is. As someone mentioned in a prior review, "The company has a complex structure that is difficult to reach".

Pros

I started as an HR intern and I really enjoyed that experience because I had the autonomy and empowerment to work cross functionally and explore new projects. There was a number of social and development events to attend so our class of about 70 interns bonded well. My senior year, I received a job offer to start after I completed my undergrad degree. I was placed in a role where I've been able to make high impact in the HR Comms team as we are building innovative communications programs. The culture and size of Equinix allows me to jump in on this important work as we begin to scale and focus on employee experience. Everyone at the company is willing to help you grow and learn and I’ve been able to develop my skills immensely.

Cons

Although Equinix is a tech company in Silicon Valley there aren’t amenities like free meals (just breakfast) or large scale events to get to know other employees.

Pros

Great team members across the globe who are always willing to work and help get things done. You can learn what you want if you want to put in the effort.

Cons

Lousy managers. The Peter Principal in full effect. The company seems to do management rotations that do more to damage the company than anything else. I was on one of the most respected go to teams in the company and within 1 year of rotating in a Sr Manager who had no clue as to what the job entailed the entire team had quit to go onto places like Apple, Amazon, Google, Facebook. Yah, that's the kind of quality you can't afford to lose.
