Pros

- Great company with the nicest people I know (from all over the world) - Amazing exposure and work that transforms you into a business leader - Your job description does not define you, you define the job description - Great culture, fun events, food, games, and movies - I came to Equity Methods looking for a job; found a solid career and lifelong friends in the process

Cons

You do not get to have accelerated learning and growth without investing the time. It was not easy until I learned how to find harmony between my personal and professional life. However, that applies to any job which requires accelerated learning.

Pros

Out of all my years of working, I've never come across a place that has a better culture than Equity Methods. Most of the people are very nice and are willing to help teach you if you're lacking knowledge in any area. The work itself is also very engaging and keeps you interested in the work you do.

Cons

The problem with Equity Methods is the hours are awful, and on top of that only some of the employees actually show appreciation for the hard work you put in. I remember working four straight weeks of over 60 hours and I never heard a single thank you (the lack of appreciation is the main reason I looked for a job elsewhere). On an hourly basis, I actually made more at my prior job even though moving to Equity Methods was a 50% salary increase for me.

Pros

Right out of the gate, you get to solve complex problems for large companies. In general, everyone here hates to micromanage, so once you are through training you will have a lot of autonomy to complete your work as you see fit. Not only does this make the work environment more enjoyable, you'll also get very good at managing your time. The culture is very collaborative, with tons of people willing to help you solve a problem you are running into. The ping pong/pool tables don't hurt either. This could be a pro or a con depending on your personality, but this is a pay for performance company. If you go above and beyond, and make the lives of everyone else easier by being here, you will be recognized for that. Everyone has a different career trajectory, but there is nothing holding you back. If you see this as a con, this company might not be for you.

Cons

There is no getting around the fact that during quarter ends, everyone here has a lot to do. This can mean some long hours, especially during your first year. Once you gain experience, you figure out how to be more efficient and the Q-end hours drop considerably. 70 hour weeks do happen, but are definitely not the norm here.
