Pros

• I met some great people. • I learned a lot about property management.

Cons

• No work life balance - always working full weekends. • Benefits, specifically the health insurance is terrible and very expensive. • Commission structure doesn’t make sense and is too low. When I asked for clarification about the commission structure, both of my managers were unable to answer my questions. • The training process is absolutely terrible and even when that is shared with the VP and other management, it is ignored and unchanged. • Turn over is insane - great employees are not valued or appreciated until they give their 2 weeks notice. • Although Equity Residential promotes career growth, there is no clear career path for Leasing Consultants and there is no focus on your development. False promises. • Inappropriate and unprofessional management. • Equity Residential claims that they want their employees to speak up and question authority but when employees do, their thoughts and opinions are ignored and employees end up regretting saying anything in the first place.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are disappointed to hear that your experience with us has not been positive, as the environment and leadership you have described is not in line with our expectations and vision for our culture. While we may not always be able to deliver the answers or solutions our employees are hoping for when they make suggestions or challenge decisions, our senior leaders truly value the feedback and always encourage employees to be heard and to question authority -- and we expect our leaders to always communicate the "why" behind the answer. We are very sorry to hear that this has not been your experience, and we would welcome the chance to speak with you about your concerns in an attempt to provide clarity and resolution. Please know that the members of your local HR and OTD teams are here to address the very concerns you mentioned, and we encourage you to reach out so that we can learn more. Thank you.

Pros

Great company to work for, you must work hard, but you’re rewarded well.

Cons

You must work hard, sometimes it feels like you don’t have time to “enjoy the ride“.

Pros

I truly admire the culture of equity. They offer competitive pay and benefits are great!

Cons

- CM’s do whatever they want. My current CM takes a 4 hour lunch every single day without fail (12-4) and when he returns, he locks himself in his office for the remainder of the day and works on his college class work. Doesn’t answer phones, doesn’t speak to resident or return their requested call backs. Doesn’t make himself present and our resident always make it a point to comment how the CM is never around or locked behind closed doors. - staffing. You will always hear “we run lean”. I get the reason behind it but in exchange, you will feel ran to the ground by the end of each day. Expectations are extremely high.
