Hello, and thank you for your great review! We are so happy to hear that you are enjoying what we think are the two best things about this company: the culture and the people. As you noted, we no longer own/manage properties where you work (as only our corporate Call Center and Central Business Group are located in AZ), so we are sorry that you are not able to take advantage of our rent discount. But we hope you continue to enjoy your career, your fantastic colleagues, and that the other aspects of our benefits package meet your needs. Thank you for all that you do and for taking the time to share your thoughts.

Pros

I have worked for a lot of property management companies. 2 years ago when I began looking for a new company, I set my priorities towards finding a company that I could stay with long term, a company that exuded integrity and genuinely put people first. My experience afforded me some great offers for managing some new and competitive communities. What drew me to Equity is that they were not willing to give me one of their lease up communities. They genuinely believe in developing their employees and giving them opportunities and grow in their role. While this made me feel like I needed to take a step back, it definitely felt like a company that would give me opportunities in the future and help me grow my career as well. The culture at Equity is very 'people' oriented. The focus on our customers and staff typically comes before the bottom line. Making people happy will bring you the profits you seek and I feel a lot better about what I contribute on a daily bases knowing I have the right kind of support from upper management and senior leadership. There is definitely a sense of pride in this community and I also get the sense that retention of our employees AND residents is much higher than our competitors as well. If you are considering a career in property management, I highly recommend you give Equity a try.

Cons

I sincerely feel that Equity Residential is equipped to handle any issue and is great at communication to avoid major cons.

Wow - we are blown away by your insight, your uplifting perspective, and with the way you have connected with the culture here at Equity. We couldn’t have said it better ourselves! Running any business poses the ongoing challenge of balancing your employees and your bottom line, but Equity always strives to put our people first, and it’s always wonderful to hear that validation from one of our own dedicated leaders. We love what you had to say about the commitment to developing our employees; so many of us here have enjoyed growth from within, and we love to pay that forward by hiring the best and giving them the resources they need to reach their own goals. With your refreshing and energizing optimism and your rational approach, we’re sure that you been a wonderful influence on the team members who have been lucky enough to work with you. Thank you for all that you do every day for your community, your residents, and your team, and for being a brand ambassador for Equity. Keep up the great work, and we will keep doing our best to keep passionate employees like you engaged!

Don't lease "too many" apartments

Pros

Financial gian and quick career advancement. Reduced rental cost for employees.

Cons

Don't lease too many apartments. They will withdraw your earnings and use it to pay out those who underachieved (to "even out the numbers"). Work hard, but not too hard, you'll practically put money in the pockets of others, who didn't work for it.

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to review your experience. While we are pleased to read that you enjoy certain aspects of your employment here, we are troubled by your statements regarding pay. We have a commission policy that clearly explains how leasing commissions are earned and paid. We encourage you to share your concerns with your Community Manager, Regional Manager, or a member of your local Human Resources team.
