Pros

Beautiful area, somewhat decent salaries, a lot of nice people work there. The company provides a good product and decent benefits.

Cons

Owner is unprofessional and many times harsh to his employees. His wife is also quite emotionally unstable. Neither one is approachable and both run the company like a dictatorship showing favoritism openly to anyone who shares their point of view. People who disagree with them, quite often find themselves shunned or looking for new jobs. Most employees keep their heads down and their mouths shut. The company is infested with toxic leadership throughout which makes it difficult to offer input without repercussions. Many people become overweight or ill within a time of working there, due to the high expectations, lack of appreciation, toxic environment and excessive workloads. On some floors you are not permitted to speak without being asked a question. Upper management seems to stay 5+ years, but lower ranking positions have a high turn over. Sadly, this company is mostly out for itself and offers poor support for employees who need a voice.

Pros

Many GIS resources accessible. Redlands is cheap (for a reason though).

Cons

Poor management. Little opportunity for career advancement. Aging staff. No contingency plan for when Jack retires. Micromanagement in every department. Company is overrun with politics to the extreme. HR is there to help the company, not the employee, proceed with caution. Salary is lower than other companies in the region, and much lower than in Silicon Valley. Little to no opportunity to move within company.

Pros

Fairly low stress if you turn off your brain, turn off creativity, and shut your mouth - just fly under the radar.

Cons

- No career development at all. You better like your pay and position when you join, because it's unlikely either will ever change. - Low pay, shamefully low annual pay increases (3-4% is considered high) - Insulting micromanaged environment - No praise for excelling or trying something new, just cutting you down when something doesn't meet ever changing expectations (of which you're not aware) - No leadership or communication from management - Can't trust management - Operates by a hierarchical caste system - no respect for employees - "when I want your opinion I'll ask the director what it is and then give it to you."
