Pros

The job pays well and most of the workers are pretty good people. But, that's about all that's good about this place.

Cons

Overtime after 55 hours. Management and supervisors talk to employees like they're idiots. No one takes responsibility for anything and just puts blame on the next guy. This is actually the first job that I've ever been at that the supervisor goes home before the employees do. They have unrealistic goals such as, make your 8 o'clock cut time when 60% of your city freight doesn't get back to the terminal until 7 o'clock while only having two dockworkers and make sure ever piece of freight is braced and blocked. Then when something does go wrong freight get damaged or a cut is missed send out a threatening email that people will start losing their jobs. Not a very friendly working environment.

Pros

Good family atmosphere. Good benefits. Lots of growth and business going well. Good central location near downtown. Onsite cafe. Lots of good people. Estes family is sharp and nice.

Cons

Not the greatest offices though building are nice on outside. Can be a bit chaotic at times.

Pros

There are very few positives to share about this place. I suppose if you're an unmotivated baby boomer trying to quietly play out your remaining years before retirement, you might find Estes the perfect place.

Cons

If you're younger than the baby boomer generation and still aspire to feel good about the contributions you make each day, you will hate yourself for taking a job here. This family-run business is concerned only with profit for the family -- and members of the family never fail to jump in and muck things up if they feel the inclination. Estes spends the absolute minimum on its employees. On the flip side, the company gushes money on wasteful projects because management couldn't manage its way out of a paper bag. It's a depressing place, and there's no indication that they are aware of what a bummer it is to work here.
