Pros

Good pay, and good benefits

Cons

Supervisors are yes men, throw you under the bus when they want to save their own neck, they have no respect for those that actually do the work. The managers who come in and have no idea of how a big shop runs think of it only in terms of what it looks like on paper. They need to crack a tool box. Too much envy going on.

Pros

If you want to work a ton of hours, you can. Pay is decent for industry.

Cons

Wow, not enough room! Almost all trucks have over 1 million miles. Trucks with no AC in Florida? Sheer torture over a 12 hour day. Never know when your day will start or where you will run, local? OTR? terminal to terminal? 1 day or 5 days out? Conditions at terminals are nightmarish - absolutely filthy, run down, old and not maintained. Forklifts that other companies would trash. Parking lots that make your head bounce off the cab's roof. Dispatch that cause you to run all over hell and back on a good day. Management that literally doesn't care one iota about you, just saving money and their bonuses. Technology from the mid 90's at best. Overall it is embarrassing going to a customer location in a filthy, piece of crap truck with peeling paint with a trailer that is equally bad in order to deliver freight that is damaged because the dock workers don't care and have handled it 10 times already at various terminals on a pallet jack that may or may not work.....

Pros

Above average pay, Terminal to Terminal runs, No down time getting loaded or unloaded, put you up in a hotel for DOT break.

Cons

As a extra-board driver,no set schedule on-call 24-7, with only a 2 hour show-up time. long runs 11hours driving, uncomfortable old trucks, most management lack of respect for drivers or dock-workers, or they just don't care.
