Pros

Excellent training, good products, beautiful work environment, fun and professional co-workers, good managers. Much more professional environment that other funiture stores with used-car ethics, etc. You have to be a degreed designer to work here.

Cons

Only things that come with the territory - weekend work and the uncertainity of commission-but the draw is outstanding and the earning potential is good-much more than when we were on salary.

Pros

As a designer, you get the opportunity to work directly with the client and run your own business within a business. If you're business-minded and don't need to constantly be told what to do, then this is your place. Management is very professional and supportive and let you do your "thing" as long as you are within basic company guidelinse and making good decisions. The disgruntled people talking about favoritism in other posts remind me of the lazy, unfocused people that I used to work with before they "purged" a couple of years ago. I've made great money and feel the company provides good advertising, products and local support.

Cons

You've got to work the weekends-that's when the clients come pouring in and where I get all of my business. I've adjusted to weekdays off and most of the time I even prefer it. The Manager is pretty good at scheduling weekends off when I need them. At the end of the day, I would rather work here and have all the cleints comming to me than hacing to chase them myself, so they weekends are ok.

Pros

I work for an independently owned Ethan Allen, so it differs from a corporate store. The pros are as long as your sales are good you are pretty much left alone. Its a lot like having your own business inside a business. The product has a good quality reputation. You gain a lot of interior design experience.

Cons

At our store your compensation is strictly commission based so it can be hard. The way Ethan Allen is set up its hard for independent owners to make a decent margin so a lot of the things other furniture stores have like finance options, heavy advertising, etc .are not in the budget
