Embrace the Chaos

Pros

EvenUp is a growing startup, and is ideal for those who thrive in fast-paced environments. Founded by three passionate guys dedicated to leveling the playing field for plaintiffs, the company values transparency with an open-door policy and direct lines of communication with leadership. Though sometimes it can feel scary, you're truly encouraged to voice ideas and concerns, knowing leadership will listen and take action. Despite occasional imperfections, like reviews suggesting women aren't supported, I wholeheartedly disagree. In my experience, whenever I've raised issues, the response has been met with a genuine willingness to learn and improve. They genuinely care about ensuring everyone feels supported and included. You will also have perks like remote work, a home office stipend, fully covered health insurance, and unlimited PTO, EvenUp prioritizes your well-being. Work-life balance seems to also be a topic of concern in reviews, this is a startup sometimes things happen and need to be prioritized to help the company grow. You have unlimited PTO, take some time off if you need it. Embrace the chaos, it can be fun! If you’re ever feeling overwhelmed, it’s on you to say something and from my personal experience they will take action.

Cons

Embracing change is essential in this environment, and while it can be challenging at times, you will grow from it. At EvenUp, like any innovative startup, change is constant as we refine our processes through trial and error. Personally, I've seen concerns addressed and new procedures implemented very quickly, easing previous worries I may have had. Understandably, if you're in sales, meeting quotas and daily tasks are part of the gig, but it's an opportunity to showcase your initiative and drive. Accountability is inherent in sales, and being adaptable is important here. With a mindset geared towards continuous improvement, these challenges can transform into opportunities for personal and professional development, making them less of a drawback and more of a chance to succeed. While not every day may be perfect, knowing you can bring up significant issues to the cofounders and trust they'll listen and work towards improvement adds to the positive culture this company is working so hard to build. Sometimes things feel chaotic and mistakes occur, but what follows and the lessons learned, along with the subsequent changes, hold greater significance. Our leaders, like all of us, are human, and imperfection is part of the journey.

Pros

Working remotely might be the only pros of that job.

Cons

The primary problem at this company is not the heavy workload or the inexperienced leadership, as one might first think. The real issue is the conduct of the leadership team itself. They routinely embarrass employees in public during calls and have even fired those who dare to speak out against such treatment. This has cultivated a highly toxic and oppressive work environment dominated by micromanagement and disrespect, which has led to a significant exodus of talented staff. Moreover, the situation has reached a point where even VPs and team leaders have resigned, reflecting the deep-seated issues at the leadership level. This turnover at the top further destabilizes the company and diminishes any hopes for a positive work culture. Prospective employees should be cautious. Despite promises of growth and advancement opportunities, the reality is starkly different. In the past three years, there have been no promotions or performance reviews, contradicting any claims of potential career progression. If you're looking for a place with room to grow, this company currently falls short of providing that environment.
