Pros

- EverCommerce (the umbrella company) and the 2 subsidiaries I worked for had some great people - kind, experienced, and intelligent - Inclusive environment - Fair compensation (but not great)

Cons

- One of the strangest, most disorganized companies I've ever worked for - There are dozens of directors and hardly any ICs (who they need desperately to do actual work) - I had no onboarding whatsoever and barely any training before I was asked to produce work - Things spoken about in my interview and offer were suddenly different once I started - This team probably isn't for you are looking to grow in your career as a marketer. Within my first month, it was clear there was no strategy nor direction (calling the work "fast-paced" doesn't hide the disorganization and complete lack of strategy. Also a strategy is not the same thing as tactics.) - I was asked to create things for the sake of creating them – there was nothing strategic whatsoever about what I was being asked to do - Simply put: I was not paid enough for having things (outside of my job responsibilities) put on my plate. This is not a case of being a "bad sport", this is a case of a specialist doing a managers job – not okay.

The worst of tech culture

Pros

My day to day work peers were fantastic. I was able to create connections across the company, but only being proactive about it.

Cons

So many of the attempts at 'culture' felt like they could have been written for a satire on tech culture. Raise freezes but here's some cards with the values we do little to enforce and a free drink bottle. Actively contacting employees of colour to participate in promo videos because they have the right 'look' is weird and tokenistic. An email went out about a round of layoffs that honestly sounded like it had been written by AI, it was so impersonal and robotic. The kicker: just before Christmas and shortly after senior leaders had promised no layoffs. Bringing together lots of companies means inconsistent benefits. It's not great when your fellow employee is working on a laptop from a couch because the company didn't pay for WFH equipment despite being fully remote. Wildly inconsistent pay and we discovered pretty clear gender pay gaps when sharing salaries. No transparency around salaries and real resistance when asked to provide this information.

Pros

Flexi time off but your Manager has the control to reject it.

Cons

I wish I was writing a positive review. EC acquires other companies under the guise of a multi-solution global platform and makes better-performing companies adopt terrible US employee practices - this is all done with the buzzword of equality. Instead of raising the level at all companies, they bring the bar down for the better ones, so no one can have any nice benefits. All original culture at the company is then replaced by EC "culture and values". Forceful cultural integration across companies because we are now "One EC" very very culty lingo. You cannot make 3000 people in vastly different companies, who don't know each other think they are part of the same org - it's human nature. Privileged Execs live in a different world to us. Terrible salaries, no promotions, and no team support especially for overworked, underpaid teams, because of "no budgets". Shareholders will now dictate the terms for all EC employees :( The job market is hard, but avoid EC if you can!
