Pros
Information flow is good, office is responsive. Bio people are fine. Mostly hands off instead of micromanaging.
Cons
Salary is used to really really get a lot of unpaid OT, and crews you monitor are in the company. So they absolutely have the ability to start trouble with you. If they want to break legal regulations, they will call up a buddy in the office who tells you to ignore it and not report things. It makes it very dicey to do your role as compliance. It puts you in a bad spot where you can expose yourself to issues with inspectors or fight the crew to do it right. If there’s a deadline it’s worse. It’s not ideal.
