Pros

Good work-life balance and supportive team culture. Projects feel meaningful because they support large federal programs. Flexible environment with opportunities to learn new tools like SQL and Power BI via internal platform, Pluralslight. Leadership is generally approachable and coworkers are collaborative and helpful.

Cons

Salary growth can be slower than the private sector. Some processes are bureaucratic and decision-making can take time. Career progression paths are not always clearly defined, especially for analysts wanting to move into senior roles quickly.

It was great, until it wasn't

Pros

The baseline 4 weeks PTO is above average for the area.

Cons

Certain individuals in leadership positions are allowed to preach the value of self-organization right before dictating where and how the work should get done. Asking folks to come onsite because "in-person is better" when there is snow and ice on the roads is not well received.

Pros

Excellent schedule and remote options, reasonable pay for entry-level cybersecurity

Cons

Non-competitive pay for experienced cybersecurity professionals, frequently increased workload, and added new clients for security monitoring without increasing staffing or pay, and layoffs with no warning after bad quarters.
