Everspring hires incredible talent across the board but severely underutilizes the skills and background they bring to the table. Stuck in a "traditional" mindset, the company struggles in being open to change and accepting critical feedback from employees. For example, a company wide survey outsourced and created by a third party vendor, was sent to all employees. The results that were shared only highlighted the positive feedback received from employees with absolutely no information on critiques they received and how they were working towards fixing them. Diversity and inclusion efforts are at all time low, with absolutely no regards or training in supporting or advocating for online students - if not, the most diverse student population in higher education. Most of the time, the company's efforts in supporting diverse initiatives result in lackluster company events such as a "trivia night" for Black History Month, and all but a simple "we're proud of you" phrase uttered by the President during Pride Month. For a company that hires progressive and also quite a few individuals who take true pride in their identity within the LGBTQ+ community this was very disrespectful to me and distasteful.
Here at this company, it's clear that the focus is more so on the "sale" and marketing tactics to lure students in. Less time is spent on initiatives and accurate, up to date training on retaining these students and making their experiences more holistic and meaningful. Data and sales will always remain at the forefront of this company - if you are interested in joining a company that truly puts students first and are looking to make an impact this is NOT the organization to join. Most importantly, ideas generated from entry-mid level employees are often turned down while those in higher management and C-suite positions continue to make decisions based off of "what has worked in the past". This made it extremely difficult to feel any sort of growth at the organization and made the work feel cyclical, tedious, and with no meaning.
