This place needs alot of work.

Pros

Lots of good people in the rank and file. The Director of Maintenance is an awesome guy who does his best for his people but runs into alot of problems from upper management so his job is extremely difficult. The Director of Safety is also a great guy who is down to earth and approachable.

Cons

Too many family and family friends in key positions that cause problems for the company. There is also a double standard between family and family friends and they basically get away with murder. The owners do not seem to have a realistic view of what they put on the backs of thier employees to get the job done and then turn around and get angry with employees when things are not getting done.

Pros

You have to really try to get fired. Interesting environment. Opportunities for on the job training.

Cons

No room to move up unless you are part of the family, same with raises unless you are willing to do some shady things. Managers and owner are fairly short sighted. If you would like to be transported back to the health standards of 1930s aviation, this is the place. Very little interest put towards improving the environment for employees, unhealthy workplace. Insane amount of waste within the comapny, and multiple attrocities witnessed when it comes to illegal dumping of chemicals or just plain ignoring problems.

Pros

Job security. It takes a lot of effort to get fired. Decent benefits for Alaska. Depending on where you work, some jobs are relatively stress-free.

Cons

Intrusive HR management that thinks they run the company. Low pay. Raises are almost non-existent. Dealing with incompetent family members that will never be fired. Managers have all the responsibility but no power to make substantive changes.
